Bio

Mike Matta is a native of Woodbridge, VA. Mike is a 2006 graduate of Potomac High School (Dumfries, VA) where he earned 3 varsity letters in baseball and 4 varsity letters in golf. Mike was an All-District and All-Area selection his junior and senior years. MVP of Potomac Fall and Spring sports for entire school. After high school, he played 4 years at Mount St. Mary’s University (Emmitsburg, MD). He was a PING Baseball Freshman All-American. He was primarily a closer for his career at the Mount, but his junior and senior years he started in centerfield. He is second in career ERA, second in career wins, first in appearances, and first in career saves at the Mount.

He has been an instructor since 2007 and coaching since 2010. He was an assistant coach at Potomac HS from 2010-2013 before moving to Hylton HS to be an assistant coach. This is his first year with the Stars organization. Prior, he was a coach for the Virginia Stars, coaching at the 12U-15U levels. Other than baseball, Mike enjoys golfing and traveling.
